UPSC Indian Forest Service (IFS) Examination 2026
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially released the notification for the Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) Examination, 2026 (Examination Notice No. 06/2026-IFoSE). This recruitment drive is for approximately 80 vacancies. Candidates must qualify for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination to be eligible for the IFS (Main) Examination.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree with at least one of the following subjects: Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Zoology, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Forestry, or Engineering.

Age Limit (as of 01.08.2026): 21 to 32 years.

Candidate must be born between 02.08.1994 and 01.08.2005.

Relaxation: SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), PwBD (10 years).

Attempts: General/EWS (6), OBC (9), SC/ST (Unlimited).

Selection Process

Stage I: Preliminary Examination (Objective Type – Common with CSE).

Stage II: Main Examination (Written/Descriptive – 6 Papers).

Stage III: Interview/Personality Test (300 Marks).
