SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Recruitment 2026

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the recruitment notification for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ (Group ‘B’, Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’). This is a massive opportunity for 12th-pass candidates with stenography skills to work in various Central Government Ministries and Departments.

Eligibility Criteria (as of 01.08.2026)

Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized Board or University.
- Candidates must possess Stenography Skills (Shorthand).
Age Limit:
- Grade C: 18 to 30 Years.
- Grade D: 18 to 27 Years.
- Relaxation: SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), PwBD (10-15 years) as per rules.

Exam Pattern & Selection Process

Computer Based Examination (200 Marks):
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: 50 Questions (50 Marks)
- General Awareness: 50 Questions (50 Marks)
- English Language & Comprehension: 100 Questions (100 Marks)
- Duration: 2 Hours. Negative Marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer.
Skill Test in Stenography:
- Grade C: Dictation at 100 w.p.m.
- Grade D: Dictation at 80 w.p.m.
Document Verification.

Application Fee

General / OBC / EWS: ₹100/-
Women / SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen: Exempted (Nil).
