The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Hindi Translators Examination 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill 84 vacancies for various translator posts in Central Government Ministries, Departments, and Organizations.

Vacancy Details (Total: 84)

The vacancies are distributed across several prestigious departments:

  • Junior Translation Officer (JTO): Central Secretariat Official Language Service (CSOLS).

  • Junior Translation Officer (JTO): Armed Forces Headquarters (AFHQ).

  • Junior Hindi Translator (JHT) / JTO / JT: Various Central Government Ministries/Departments.

  • Senior Hindi Translator (SHT) / Senior Translator: Various Central Government Ministries/Departments.


Eligibility Criteria (as of 01.08.2026)

  1. Educational Qualification:

    • Master’s Degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory/elective subject or vice versa.

    • OR Master’s Degree in any subject with Hindi and English as compulsory/elective subjects.

    • Diploma/Certificate: A recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa OR 2-3 years of translation experience in Govt. offices.

  2. Age Limit:

    • 18 to 30 years (Candidates must be born between 02-08-1996 and 01-08-2008).

    • Age Relaxation: SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), PwD (10-15 years).


Exam Pattern & Selection Process

  1. Paper-I (Objective Type – Computer Based):

    • General Hindi: 100 Questions (100 Marks)

    • General English: 100 Questions (100 Marks)

    • Duration: 2 Hours. Negative Marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer.

  2. Paper-II (Descriptive Type – Pen & Paper):

    • Translation & Essay: 200 Marks.

    • Includes translation of two passages (Hindi to English and vice versa) and two essays.

  3. Selection: Merit is based on the combined performance in Paper-I and Paper-II, followed by Document Verification.


Application Fee

  • General / OBC / EWS (Male): ₹100/-

  • Women / SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen: Exempted (Nil).
